Being in love with both music and photography, I have long been interested in the connection between the two. The list of musicians who have become photographers is impressive. Both good music and good photography come from the heart of the artist and speak to the hearts of the audience. For the musician, playing all the notes in the right place is not enough. And for the photographer, good technique is not enough. I have often told my photography students that if you don't feel something when you make the picture, no one will feel anything when they view the picture.
Many photographers concentrate in one subject area. I am not one of them. Because of my career with National Geographic, I have had to be somewhat versatile, and I would soon be bored concentrating in only one area. I also shoot in several film formats. While most of my work is done with the 35 mm format, I also use 6x6 cm, 6x12 cm, 4x5 inch, and more recently the 25x65 mm format of the Hasselblad X-Pan.
I hope you will find some photographs here that speak to you.
